Beaches and Lakes:
Forster/Tuncurry has 5 local beaches, and there are also several beaches within a half hour drive south in the scenic Pacific Palms area.
The sister towns of Forster and Tuncurry are located at the mouth of Wallis Lake, which is part of a network of linked waterways comprising the Myall, Smiths and Wallis Lakes. Between them the three lakes cover an area 4.5 times the size of Sydney Harbour.


Lake Cruises:
There are two vessels offering regular tourist cruises of the Wallis Lake. Both the "Free Spirit" and "Amaroo 2000" depart from jetties close to the Forster CBD. Bookings are advised during school holidays. On both cruises dolphins are often sighted.


Fishing, Diving and Snorkelling:
Surrounded by lake and ocean Forster/Tuncurry offers a multitude of water activities.





4WD Beach Access:
Great Lakes Council offers visitors permits to drive on designated beaches. Contact the Council office for details.


Sporting and Recreation Facilities:
The area has a wide assortment of sporting and recreation clubs, catering for lawn bowls, golf, tennis, surfing, swimming, squash, bridge and general fitness.


Restaurants and Dining:
The area has an excellent selection of restaurants and cafes including Chinese, Thai, Seafood, Mexican, Italian, French, and modern Australian.

Many of the local restaurants and cafes provide alfresco dining during the warmer months. "Hog's Breath", "Subway", and "McDonalds" restaurants are also located in Forster.


For the Kids:
There are two funparks located just north of Forster/Tuncurry: "THE BIG BUZZ" and "TON-O-FUN". Both are open weekends and all school holidays, and they have plenty to keep the youngsters busy including giant waterslides, go-carts, bumper boats and mini-golf. Both have picnic and BBQ areas.
